Lets see your first !

Nice Elk, my first elk was a cow. I had hunted for a bull earlier in the year but didn't see anything. First day of the season i saw 3 bulls all fairly big. I couldn't really tell since it was getting dark. The next two days i didn't see anything. but on the fourth day I was looking over a big circle of alf afla and saw a heard of a bought 50 they were all bunch up and i was waiting for one to give me a shot. one finally steps out and i shot it in the back hip and again in the lung. it took it awhile to die but aventully goes down. I was pumped. the saddest part was when i was going to take some pics my camera was dead. So i waited until i got home to take some pics. it won't let me put the pics in though because the file size is to big.

Here are my first two. The buck came out off Buffalo Creek, CO and the bull (hanging) from near Basin, CO. I lost the bet and did most of the dirty work with the elk...

This was my first time elk hunting and my first and only elk. It was on the third day of a Wyoming wilderness pack hunt in the Tetons. We were riding through a creak bottom, cow called and could not get off of the horses fast enough. When he answered from above us, he was coming down so fast we were lucky not to be busted. We were in some pine and I suppose he thought the horses were elk. I just dropped to a knee, looked under the branches, and there he was at 60yds., and the rest is history. What an awesome experience. Next year we plan on doing the DYI Colorado hunt during the muzzeloader season. Any tips or advise is greatly appreciated.
