Nice looking pair of goats, they look like twins! Where did you all hunt?

Haswell, CO. Big game access program property. Browning model 81, shot at 305 yds. 160gr Nosler partition.

This morning the dog (darker one) brought one of the severed fore legs into the house and presented it to my wife while she was still in bed.
She was not amused.

Alamosa, looks like you have some meat to get you thru the winter. Great! I have driven the route from Alamosa to Buena Vista (Hwy 17 and 285 I believe) many times with my job, that has to be some of the most beautiful country. I have always seen alot of Antelope also. Your wife didn't like the severed leg? hmmm, maybe she would like the skull cap and hyde!! Good job

Eastern Colorado Doe

I posted this to the Rockies - but what the hay, my family is tired of me talking about it at home (Already!! What gives?), and here it is still "legal"!

Taken on the second day of the season, when they were all spooky and wilder than usual. The stalk - my third that day (and second on this herd), was a half mile crawl/low crawl through buffalo grass and wheat stubble fields. It was alternately raining and misting and the wind out of the southeast at about 25mph. I took a shot with my 270, but not until my heart rate slowed down from the crawl - it's harder than I remember!! I was on my elbows, peering through a small patch of weeds - and they never showed any sign of sighting me, she stood right where I watched her for several minutes, eating and looking around before it was over with one shot to the right shoulder and out the left. I walked it afterwards, as my old redfield scope doesn't tell you how far you are from game like some of the new ones do, and I am really pretty proud that I got a 275 yard shot in. It was wild - after she went down, she never got up, and the other antelope just stood there as I jogged towards them. They let me get within 75 yards before they took off finally! In anycase, I know she is just a doe - but my first antelope and after moose, caribou, elk , deer and mountain lion, she is my favorite memory so far! What fun! I'm just sad it's over already this year! Now, on to deer....

bynight, great story. I am sure you had to soak your elbows and knees after that stalk. Its all worth it though i am sure. Good luck on your deer hunt!

Colorado antelope hunt pics

Boy I can't complain. After a week of checking on the herd of goats in the morning before work and putting them to bed every night for a week our plan came together. By 7 minutes into legal shooting time I had my buck on the ground. By 11:30 am the boys had their does and we were back home. Going to be some mighty tasty eating. By the way rough score on this buck is 77.
