Leftovers in Colorado

Hey guys, first time for me on BGH.net.
I was hoping some of you Colorado folkscould steer me to a decent unit for mule deer that is undersubscribed or has leftover licenses.
I use to hunt the western slope, but I have no points, and have not hunted there for 20 years.
Appreciate any info. >> Tom >>

Welcome Tom,
There are pictures of my buck this year on this thread.

This buck was harvested on a leftover tag. Many of the units in the Northwest part of the state have leftovers. I have 8 points for deer and should be drawing my tag of choice very soon!
Glad to hear you are getting back into the sport.

I usually head to up area 25, right around Sweetwater Cow camp. There are normally lots of leftover doe tags.
Second season is probably better, and you have a real good chance of filling your tag opening morning.

Very nice buck, hefty body on him also, good job.
You can proberly draw any unit in the state with eight points.
Your'll probably kill a whopper when you draw a limited unit.
I have not been completley out of hunting, I have deer hunted in Wyoming a couple of times. When I drew a license up there.
Looking foward to hunting Colo. again.

Puma Tom, Welcome to BGH! Big smile

We have a lot of units that you can draw a second choice buck or doe tag and in some cases, you can kill a buck and a doe.

Looking to draw unit 21 3rd season pretty soon. We used the leftover tags this year to take the kids out to let them enjoy the experience. Here is a picture of the boys.

Thats a great picture, really looks like those kids are loving that.

The smile on my son's face (middle) is absolutely priceless to me as a father.
All three boys and all three fathers had great fun on the hunt. I let my son set the pace and make the decisions where to go. Trying to make it an enjoyable outing so he will want to go when he gets older. There are so many demands on our lives and time, it was nice to just get away from everything for a few days. No phones, no schedule, just a good time. Looking forward to going again this year.
