Left Wing Vision of the Future

Imagine...media sources receiving direct support from the government and controlled by licenses.

And try to understand the logic behind the idea that such action would insure that journalists would be able to objectively hold the government accountable.

Meet Rosa Brooks -- an LA Times columnist just picked by the Obama administration to join the staff of the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy.

I find this whole idea to bail out newspapers scary. If the papers can't make, I say sayonara.

What's next? The liberal TV stations will want bailouts as well.

Who's going to be next with their hand out for our tax dollars?

From the article,

"Years of foolish policies have left us with a choice: We can bail out journalism, using tax dollars and granting licenses in ways that encourage robust and independent reporting and commentary, or we can watch, wringing our hands, as more and more top journalists are laid off," she wrote in her parting column on April 9.

[I] can't imagine anything more dangerous than a society in which the news industry has more or less collapsed

I can. One that's controlled by the Government. Before you comment Civet, think about this. Would you want Bush 2 controlling the press anymore than we want the left doing it? This is not a good idea for anyone.
