This Last Weekend

Well I spent some time with the wife this weekend (with the new camper) and my parents who took there camper. Saturday was windy and rainy so we just spent time in camp until the afternoon. Then we decided to go for a drive and look for critters. As we were traveling down a dirt road (going about 30 mph) my mom tells dad to stop and back up. She thought she saw an antler (ya right !) so dad backed up, and sure enough about 90 yards out was a nice 4 point muledeer antler laying out in the brush.

The next morning I took off out of camp before anyone else woke up to look for some sheds. In a matter of 2 hours I picked 8 muley sheds and two of them being very nice. When I made it back to camp mom was a little upset I had left without her, so we made a plan to all go out after breakfast.

We decided to walk the same area I had found the huge set a couple of years ago while hunting during second season. As we made it on top of this plateau I was lucky enough to find the first shed and then my wife. The second shed my wife picked up was a very nice 4 point shed with a big browtine and then the competition really got going as I could not let the wife beat me. The next antler I found by glassing a deep drainage. When I seen it I was not sure I was seeing correctly as to how big it was and I wanted my wife to see it from where we were standing. As I am still trying to teach here what to look for while glassing. She could not find it so I took off and told her to look when I get down there and she picked it up when I was about 20 yards from it. It ended up being the biggest 3 point muley shed I have ever found.

Another great trip in the books and I can't wait to get back out there. Thanks for reading and sorry for the lack of pics this time as I did not take the camera or cell phone on the first outing.

Awesome finds!  That 3 point

Awesome finds!  That 3 point is a giant!  I would love to see the muley sporting that headgear!  More antler shed envy here.

Very cool getting the family

Very cool getting the family out shed hunting. It is always exciting when you see one from a distance, get to it and see what you really have. Looking forward to getting out again soon.

Awesome finds, I'm jealous! I

Awesome finds, I'm jealous! I went on my first shed hunting excursion last year and ended up finding a matching set, but I think that was more luck than anything. Too much snow still where I go, so I'm going to wait a few more weeks. Congrats again on the finds.

As a note to anyone that finds a bunch of antlers, I recently moved into a new house and have a few projects I'd like to do with deer and elk antlers. If you're interested in selling any please shoot me a PM!

As I sit here typing this

As I sit here typing this reply I can look out a window and still see snow up on the hill where the deer winter in my area, so I have a few more weeks before I can get up on top to see what is up there if there are any left after the weekend warriors are done picking and running their trucks up there.

That buck that was wearing that 3pt side would be a nice one to see this year, that is one nice shed.

Nice

Nice find Quinton! Seems your Momma has an eye for finding antlers. I'd pack her along on my hunts too. Wink
