Well I spent some time with the wife this weekend (with the new camper) and my parents who took there camper. Saturday was windy and rainy so we just spent time in camp until the afternoon. Then we decided to go for a drive and look for critters. As we were traveling down a dirt road (going about 30 mph) my mom tells dad to stop and back up. She thought she saw an antler (ya right !) so dad backed up, and sure enough about 90 yards out was a nice 4 point muledeer antler laying out in the brush.
The next morning I took off out of camp before anyone else woke up to look for some sheds. In a matter of 2 hours I picked 8 muley sheds and two of them being very nice. When I made it back to camp mom was a little upset I had left without her, so we made a plan to all go out after breakfast.
We decided to walk the same area I had found the huge set a couple of years ago while hunting during second season. As we made it on top of this plateau I was lucky enough to find the first shed and then my wife. The second shed my wife picked up was a very nice 4 point shed with a big browtine and then the competition really got going as I could not let the wife beat me. The next antler I found by glassing a deep drainage. When I seen it I was not sure I was seeing correctly as to how big it was and I wanted my wife to see it from where we were standing. As I am still trying to teach here what to look for while glassing. She could not find it so I took off and told her to look when I get down there and she picked it up when I was about 20 yards from it. It ended up being the biggest 3 point muley shed I have ever found.
Another great trip in the books and I can't wait to get back out there. Thanks for reading and sorry for the lack of pics this time as I did not take the camera or cell phone on the first outing.
