Last minute advice GMU 54?

Heading up to my first elk hunt with my buddy.  We are really excited to camp out in the west elk wilderness and try and take our first elk.  Any last minute advice on how to find these sneaky creatures?  Thanks

And can anyone tell me if the elk might still be bugling?  Thanks

I have heard (and watched)

I have heard (and watched) bulls bugle while hunting as late as third rifle season. Cows that go unbred during the main rut will cycle through and go back into estrus up to two more times. Bulls will breed these cows on a opportunistic basis as they come back into heat. In some parts of the state their will be bulls still bugling with some regularity during the first rifle season. But bulls will have shut up for the majority of the state once the guns start going off. Good luck on your hunt and keep us posted.

Other advice on getting close to them: skip the green chile and beans the night before Yes
