Yes, In my opinion it is worth pushing back your Illinois hunt. The rut should be getting ready to get hot and heavy soon. The deer North of Bowling Green are as good as some people say. I hunt in Meade County, and that is near the Ohio River. The deer in this area are large, given all the the food sources in the immediate area, and it's right next to Ohio, which produces large deer too! So GetRDun!

I lived in Glasgow for 5 years and hunted the areas in which you are referring. The hunting is as good or BETTER than you have heard. Kentucky deer have huge bodies for the most part and support some of the finest racks you can imagine. Damn good eatin too!!!

Mid Novemeber now and it's a little touch and go in some places. I'm further up North about 1 hour South East of Cincy. I've seen some bucks chasing does (my wife's buck she killed was HARD on a trail...he wouldn't stop for nothing!!) but still alot of guys I talk to say they are still seeing bucks roaming together and not worried about does at all. The weather up here has been very strange this year. Hot and VERY dry Summer and very mild fall so far. Hell, it was almost 70 today!! I think you'll still be in good shape to harvest a good deer even late in the season....unless of course we wind up with 8ft of snow and 5 inches of ice all of a sudden. Don't laugh.....OhioValley weather....could happen

By the way. We process deer and I can see quite a significant difference in the body size and antler size of deer that we've seem come to us compared to....say....5 years ago. I think letting alot of Zones kill more does has made a HUGE difference in the size of bucks harvested.

You are right about the weather brother. It has been very strange in the Ohio Valley. I live in Hardin County, Kentucky, but I hunt in Meade County, and last weekend I just started seeing bucks running by themselves now. The weather just has to be a factor in all of this. The temps just keep jumping from low to high. It is kind of frustrating down here in KY. Maybe I just need to put more time in the field. But it seems like the deer are not acting like they normally do?
