KIng Kong Has Found His Crib

Baited yesterday
The last time I ran out of the sweet syrup mix that I was using for spray so I took 2 of those Capri sun foil juice packs (the kind kids take in their lunch)
I just split them open and poured them all over the crib.
That crib was hit harder than it had ever had been before.
Just juice packs

KIng Kong Has Found His Crib

KING KONG finally found the crib.
It’s him, same size tracks.
I didn’t have time to refresh it last night before dark so I went out this morning.
The hair was standing on the back of my neck, just felt like he was still there.
There was only 1 picture (supposed to take 3 pictures each time) on the camera but nothing there (something tripped the infrared detector) then the battery went dead (2weeks)
Changed the battery and loaded the crib back up. I put out 3 times as much as I have been using, Want him to have food every time he comes.

OK Guys

Less than 2 weeks to go
I have been baiting every 3 or 4 days
Am planning on increasing it to every 2 or 3 days next week
Then just before Kristina’s hunt starts, everyday with 5 gal of dog food / horse feed mix with fryer oil and old doughnuts.
Does this sound right?

He even ate that old rotten smelly meat

Remember that there are 3 cribs
The one down to the south where I found most of the tracks of King Kong, this one just finally got hit. (Not even coons or buzzards had not touched this one. I just kept adding bait and I almost quit this one)

The middle crib across the highway gets hit almost every time (this is where the camera was stolen) Tracks of 8 to 9 1/2"

The north crib is where I pulled the camera and stands, wouldn’t you know it? This crib has the most tracks and trails and showed the most activity, they have destroyed the logs that I use to cover the bait. This is also where I used that Capri Sun juice. I had to find new logs last night (one reason why I didn’t have time to rebait King Kong’s crib) I also have had to put more bait at this one and its gone every time.

At the 2 upper cribs I use hollow logs (firewood) as buckets. I really pack them tight full of doughnuts and greasy bread, they have rolled these up to 30 ft from the crib trying to get the doughnuts and greasy bread out.

Man I love this stuff

Hey MnKaMRaM

I also ran out of honey the last time I baited at King Kong’s crib so I just burned marshmallows, I just kept putting them in the honey pot and let them melt away.
There was a northeast wind that day and that smoke just rolled down the ravine toward the river.
He likes the other side of that river, thats where most of his tracks that I found are.

Sounds like you've got a good thing going Thumbs up A couple of questions if you decide to increase your baiting frequency and put less out each day on the days you hunt are you having someone else bait while you (and you partner) slip into your stands / blind? The reason I'm asking is introducing a new human ordor might spook ol Kong off so you might want to have the "baiter" make a few bait runswith you beforehand. Also has your daughters scent been introduced to the sites. It might not make a difference but if that bear is as big as he appears it might be very important not to have any new human smell around. At any rate good luck I hope you get him!

Yep
Kristina's been out a few times scouting and hanging the stands.
I've had a friend help me twice already and will help with the hunt.
Kristina doesn’t know yet that King Kong found his food.
She’s going to flip.
She will want to hunt that crib, I hope she can too.
But I'm afraid that it’s still too early to tell yet which one will give her the best chance. Probably that north crib with out stands.
Hopfully we will know more by this time next week. Wish I could put that camera back out to one of those other cribs.
Mama doesn’t want her on the ground.
Ultimately it will be Kristina's choice.

You guys input would help.

Congrats on Kong finding your crib Blackie!!!! Thumbs up That's awesome...hopefully he'll be back again and again!!!! Sounds like you're doing it all right. That's a good tip on the capri sun...it really is sweet...perhaps you found a new attractor. If I could offer a suggestion...on your baiting it all sounds real good. The closer your season gets cut back a little bit for the competition thing. Of course that will all depend on what the camera shows you. If he's already coming in during the daylight your problems are solved. Hopefully those yahoo's won't mess you up on this one. How far is this place from where you got your camera stolen...approx??? Could "they" have pushed Kong to this new location by screwing around your other baits?? Just curious.. Think

This is the area where I have found all Kong’s tracks, a mile walk to bait (there are no trails), Its the hardest place out there to get to except across the river (don’t think I could get him out if she kills him down there short of cutting him up, even with an army of friends) Haven’t seen any recent sign of people in this area.
All the cribs are a little more than a mile from the next crib. The camera was stolen across the highway (they didn't touch the stands, they are older and welded together)
Where I pulled the camera and stands are about 2 1/2 miles to the northeast, (5 miles by truck) I don’t think those yoyos found the crib.

Blackie it looks to me that you've got a pretty good handle on things. You might have to "play it by ear" and wait to see what crib he's at the most. Maybe by then he will have developed somekind of pattern....
