Kidnapped US captain freed; snipers kill 3 pirates

Thank God this ended well for the Captain, and American citizen. What a Happy Easter for his family.

From The Article:
"One of the pirates pointed an AK-47 at the back of Phillips, who was tied up and in "imminent danger" of being killed when the commander of the nearby USS Bainbridge made the split-second decision to order his men to shoot,"

Good for the USS Bainbridge Commander who took action when needed.

What?? I thought Obama made the decision! Quick! Somebody dig up some dirt on the Bainbridge's commander!

And then there's Capt Phillips thanking the Navy and the SEALs and not Obama. How dare he snub the Dear Leader.

It was about time, in my opinion this went on for about 4 days too long. It would have been very unfortunate if the captian had lost his life due to a lack of decision making. They were just lucky that the pirates ran out of fuel. I did notice immediately after this happened there was a press release stating that Obama issued the final order. Must have read the Jimmy Carter manual on negotiating with terrorists.

Was thrilled to hear about the captain's rescue. I'm amazed the SEALS were able to take out the kidnappers without harming Phillips. That's what you call skill!

I'm surprised Obama would even support this type of action, considering his stance on terrorists.

I am still waiting on Obama's apology to the Somalis for Americas arrogance and lack of concern for human life and for "murdering" those poor, defenseless guys.
Hey! mabe we could send some Stimulus checks over there and mabe they'll stop........hummm oh! that's right we tried that once and it cost 18 American soldiers their lives and we lost 2 UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopters as our thanks.

It is terrible that anyone had to die but the Pirates choose to be where they were and do what they were doing.

Csumerall is right. What amazes me is it took four days to take down a rowboat filled with the maritime equivalent of liquor store robbers. SEALS train for much more difficult scenarios and this should have been a cake walk by comparison to something like the Achille-lauro hijacking. I can only assume they've been waiting for the green light all this time. Especially considering that the Captain nearly escaped himself the other day and no one thought to give him a little covering fire when he swam for it? Maybe I'm wrong but I can only attribute that to leadership indecision because you can bet the SEALS have had their sights on that boat since they arrived.

My thoughts.

Day 1, 0600 hours. Seal Team make a plan and serve said plan.

Day 1, 0601 hours, 4 shot fired, 4 dead pirates, captain and crew saved.

Day 1, 0602 hours, Seal Team back in racks sleeping.

NEXT

But wait that would just make sense now wouldn't it.
