Kel Tec quality? Your experience?

I am beginning to have my doubts about Kel Tec.  I had a second breakage with my Sub2000 carbine today.  Took it to the range and 3 shots later the plastic front sight broke in half!

Prior to this I had a crack in the barrel.  Kel tec replaced the barrel free of charge, but really - TWO breakages ?

Anybody else have a Kel tec with problems?

My experience with this

My experience with this company is limited to two firearms. A sub2000 like yourself that has been flawless in operation for a couple of years now. There was a spring missing when I purchased it used but one phone call and it was in the mail free right away. I love mine and am surprised at the problems you have had with yours.

My second KelTek is a P11 I picked up about a year ago in a trade. So far I have fired 100 rounds through it of mixed hardball and hollow points with no failures at all. The only complaint I have is it has the heaviest trigger of any firearm I own and is very difficult to get used to.

I understand your frustration but hopefully a new sight and you will have no more problems to deal with as these are really a cool and fun little gun to play with.

interesting

I've been on a lot of gun forums before. BUT this is the only place I've ever seen the words Keltec AND Quality in the same sentence before, EVER....    Whistling

Well that is true I'm sure

lol Well that is true I'm sure but so far my Keltek's have been more reliable than my latest $1000 Remington 700. And that is a truly sad thing to say.

They're not the most

They're not the most reliable, but they are pretty badass.

inoperable when folded, so they are perfectly legal here in NYS

Whitehorn:

I don’t know about looking “bad-ass” but I do like them from the convenience factor of the folding carbines like the Sub2000.  Here in New York State folding stocks are generally frowned upon, in fact I think that they may be entirely illegal – but the Kel-Tec carbines don’t have a folding STOCK, they actually break at the action and are inoperable when folded, so they are perfectly legal inside even this liberal nanny state.
