Kaycee Deer Info

We drew tags for Region Y this year. This will be our first WY deer hunt and were thinking about going around the Kaycee area. Any tips or advice? Whats the numbers like around there this year? Thanks

The deer numbers are not

The deer numbers are not fantastic anywhere, but with a Y tag the best areas to go IMHO are well west and southwest of Kaycee down where you're thinking about. The Barnum area and other BLM land south and southwest of there can be good and the tougher country you get into on foot away from any road access the better you'll find it. Make sure and have a good BLM map and then also have a Garmin with the Wyoming chip for land ownership so you know exactly where you are at all times because you'll be challenged by some ranchers out there that think they own the whole state! Also, remember you can't access public land by going through private property without permission. If you don't have a Garmin with a chip, get one, because you're asking for trouble without it and the trespass tickets out there generally start at around $200.
