The deer numbers are not fantastic anywhere, but with a Y tag the best areas to go IMHO are well west and southwest of Kaycee down where you're thinking about. The Barnum area and other BLM land south and southwest of there can be good and the tougher country you get into on foot away from any road access the better you'll find it. Make sure and have a good BLM map and then also have a Garmin with the Wyoming chip for land ownership so you know exactly where you are at all times because you'll be challenged by some ranchers out there that think they own the whole state! Also, remember you can't access public land by going through private property without permission. If you don't have a Garmin with a chip, get one, because you're asking for trouble without it and the trespass tickets out there generally start at around $200.
How many times have you wished for a better view across a clear cut, an agriculture field or down a powerline?
Ever wanted to get a little higher to try to get above a deer’s nose?
Have you ever wanted a taller stand because… well… just because?
Here is an example of a stand I made a few years ago and it has some very real advantages and a few disadvantages.
commanding view from the stand
able to accommodate two hunters, perfect for parent / child hunts
hunters are well...
