I have hunted Mule Deer in Kansas for the past 3 years and have had fantastic success. I consider the places that I hunt to have some phenomenal mule deer hunting, but I can't help asking myself the question "Are there better areas out there?"
To help judge numbers and quality, I am going to give a typical day of hunting as an example and I am looking for responses to in a similar fashion to try to judge different hunting areas compared to mine.
Here is an average day hunting for me:
In my hunting club I am able to reserve roughly 2,000 acres of land to hunt by myself or with a buddy.
We typically see around 40 Mulies in the mornings and about 40 Mulies in the evenings. Out of each group of 40 there is typically 1-4 shooter bucks.
I have hunted the same place for three years and have not once seen a whitetail. It also seems that none of the neighbors seem to have near the numbers of Mulies that my hunting club's property has...
Once again I LOVE the place that I mulie hunt, but because it is so good, I am afraid to switch things up and try a different property in the club in another area in fear of missing out on a guaranteed good year of hunting on my current place.
Any and all comments welcome!
