Just joined forum

Hello all,

I just joined the forum and am looking forward to sharing, learning making new connections here.  I've posted over at 24HC for years under the same moniker.

I will be hunting GMU 15 in Colorado this year for elk, second season.  I hunted it last year - scouted well before the season and saw lots of elk.  After first season and significant snow, the elk moved out of those areas and movement went to zero.  I saw one track in 7 days.  That being said, this year, I planning for a deeper hunt than last year because I know this area has elk.

Thinking about hunting Sarvis or southwest in the unit away from the roads.  Anybody have experience in the area they are willing to share?

I'll second the welcome.

As for hunting 15, I have worked there, drove through it and looked for animals as I drove through it but I have never hunted it.  A couple of friends did hunt it years ago and ran into a lot of other hunters.  Their problem was that they bailed out of it during a snow storm that went on for 3 days and didn't go back until the day after it quit.  When they went back they said that all the camps had deer and elk hanging in them.  They didn't believe me when I told them that they had better be there when the sun came back out.

Let us know how the hunt turns out.

I went scouting this weekend

I went scouting this weekend and had a nice time scouting areas I didn't hunt last year.  Saw one cow on the move, but it was hot, so most critters i expect were bedded down during the day.
