Juggin Cat!

These are pics of a catfish we caught a few weeks ago. We caught about 20 that night he was the biggest that we got in the boat. We had one bigger and one just a hair smaller that got off before we got them in the boat.

Just gotta love jug fishin'

The pics are enhanced scans of 3x5's developed from a cheap disposable camera so there not to great. Brick Wall,)

Here is a part of post that I made in another topic:

Basically jug fishing is a way to have as many lines in the water as you can handle and catch a nice mess of catfish for some good eating. The line, usaully cotton twine, is attached to a large hook on one end and the bottle on the other. You bait the hooks and drop the jugs over the side of the boat. You lay a long line(they aren't attached to each other or anything but the hook) of them usually in a circle or half circle with each one 10-15 feet apart. Then when they are all out you watch them with a spotlight when one starts moving out of the normal pattern it usually has a fish. We have used 20oz, 2 liter, bleach bottles, and milk jugs for a long time. But lately everybody around here has began usuing what we call "noodles". You take one of those 5ft long foam pool toy "noodles"(hence the name) with a hole in the center and cut into 1ft sections and insert a 16in piece of 3/4" PVC pipe in the hole. Then drill a hole in the exposed end of the pipe and attach your line. We attach a small loop of nylon line to the pipe end and add a swivel on the loop then attach the cotton twine to the swivel this helps keep the line from breaking.

It's different from a trot line in that you have to stay with the jug. A trot line you can bait and come back in the morning. With the jugs you stay out all night, we usually put out first jug in at about 8:00pm and pull our last jug out at about 5:00am the next morning.

It's a blast the more people and boats the better. We usually head out to breakfast after fishing all night, and its great to spend time on the water when theres not so many people around.

Nice fish. Juggin is usually the best way to go to get the monsters. What do you typically use for bait? If you dont already you should try a small live bluegill. They usually attract the big daddies.

We used small bluegills before but it's so hard to get enough of them. We usually run 90 jugs, although sometimes we cut it to 45. The statewide creel limit is 50 bluegills(or bream as we call em').

We use a mixture of shad and raw shrimp tails. The shad we catch below a hydro-electric dam. We can catch hundreds in a day in a cast net. When we have extras we freeze them and use them later. The shrimp we buy from wal-mart and mix with garlic powder. The cats seem to love it.
