Spent some time on John's TrapLine today.

A few more video loaded from John's camera.
Went out to John's line and set a couple Lynx
sets along with some Wolf snares.

I downloaded the video from Johns camera
a Sony 105 HandyCam. It is ideal for going to
a TV. Creating VOB files. My Hitachi 350a does
it great for the computer. Creating MPG files.

The files from John's camera come out as 1
huge file. But I can fix that by changing the
date between each video clip.

Probably new video from Mikes TrapLine tomorrow.

We will go out again tomorrow. I'll do a little better job
with the still camera.

1 Martin and a good clip of a Ruffed Grouse marching by

Just got in and the download is complete

Sunny day with mild temperatures
above freezing. John went out yesterday
on another section of his line and got 9
Martin and 1 Weasel. I'll go to his place
and check out the skinned catch one day.
Both him and Mike are nearing 40 Martin.

0 Martin 1 Lynx 2 Fisher 10 or 12 Weasel 1 Squirrel 1 Bear

The Bear was a small one and was caught later in the day.
He stuck his nose in where it shouldn't be. It was tiny.
35 or 40 lbs. Must have lost his mother last fall to be
so underweight. The weather was mild and sunny.

The second half will be switched in tomorrow morning.
part 1 through 8 is up and 9 through 14 later.

We are going out to check again tomorrow.

3 Martin 8 or 9 Weasel

Nice day on the TrapLine the only people on the roads
were a few Christmas tree hunters. Very Very quiet backroads.

A small Female Weasel is compared to a much large Male.
We got video of a flock of 20 to 30 Spruce Hens. I've never
seen that many together. The must organize these affairs for
the christmas quiet period. Lots of moose were seen and videoed.

It will be a few days before going back out again.

Merry Christmas

Back from Mikes place, took a look at the Bear after skined

Went out and checked 3 new traps we set closeby
Just 1 Weasel, Mike was expecting Fisher and Martin.

Then I went and took a look at the Bear. He had skinned
it. There wasn't enough fat to do a pair of boots. Just
a little by the tail. So little fat that he nicked it
during skinning. The only holes in the bear were the final
ones up close. He thought he could see the bear between
the two trees with his nose sticking out in front. But the
trap pole/tree was taking the shots. It wasn't till he got
up close that the bear no longer felt pain. The claws on this
little sucker were huge for his size.

I also did a little video of the wolf John got a few days
back. A nice black one. Mike showed me the Otter pelts he
got back today from the tanner. I have video of them fresh
out of the trap.

The stretched bear, His collection of claws and wolf pelts
and White footed Lynx. I took a number of still pics as well.

videos 1-8 of the 11 I shot today are downloading now.

In the next day or two we should go out again.

large squirrel dens from last year.

I finally went through them all and will be
showing you some of the best from the 2005 -
2006 season.

We will be going out again tomorrow so expect
some fresh video tomorrow evening.

6 Martin 1 Lynx 1 Fisher 7 Weasel 1 Squirrel

Sunny early in the day and a pretty good catch
given the previous luck. The Fisher have
been around some of the traps but seem to be
too smart. Lots of Shrew eating bait. 19 1/2
minutes of video and lots of still pictures
of the area.

What is a good weasel trap these rat traps
just don't seem to be quick enough? or
strong enough some times as you'll see.

What's a good alternative?

the first of 18 clips will be downloading
shortly. Along with the pictures.
