Jimmy billboard

Some of you may have seen this already - it's been floating around the internet via email.

I saw this billboard in Grand Junction Colorado shortly after it went up about a month ago. My husband and I were spending a few days in the area, and got quite a chuckle when we saw the billboard. What surprised me was one of the local TV station's coverage of the billboard. They interviewed various people that stated this type of billboard shouldn't be allowed (by law I'm assuming) because it is disrespectful to Obama. Some went so far as to state that anti-Obama bumper stickers shouldn't even be allowed. Then they tried to dig up the "business owner" that purchased the billboard, so he/she could be boycotted. The person(s) that purchased this billboard did it under the condition of remaining anonymous.

I've lived most of my adult life on the western slope of Colorado and always believed that we were the conservative side of the state. After what I saw on that local TV station, it made me pause and wonder what happened.

I get serious chills up my spine when I hear people say such things should be outlawed because they're disrespectful to Obama. It horrifies me to think so many Americans have lost the bubble on democracy so badly that they're willing to embrace the worst forms of personality cult facism.

Don't be too quick to clap too soon. I think you guys are mistakenly thinking that this billboard is a punch to Obama. Do you guys recall when George W called Jimmy Carter the biggest failure in the American Presidency? Anyone recall that? Well now that George W is out of office I think these billboards aren't necessarily directed at Obama. Although they should be as well Evil!

Obviously everyone believes the billboard is directed at Obama - or there wouldn't be such an uprorar! When Bush got hammered I sure didn't see this type of defensiveness.

Expat, I agree the local media's coverage of this billboard or any anti-Obama sentiments made me ill - and yes it is very scary to think that some actually believe it's ok to silence this type of free speech.
