Well that didn't take long. Zumbo has printed an apology on his blog already. The sponsors must have been totally unimpressed by the deluge of negative e-mails from hunters and shooters.

Apparently he is going on a hunting trip with Ted Nugent and they will be using AR's...........I am sure that will straighten him out.

I don't know if I could handle Jim Zumbo in his birthday suit holding a black rifle! We won't have to listen to him sing will we?

I say cut him a break. He said he is sorry and screwed up, what more can you ask?

I am inclined to cut him a break because I don't want to be like the antis and the liberals who persecute someone simply because they don't agree with them.

I agree with you CVC. But I don't believe he ment that apology. I suspect there are a lot of hunter's, none anti's, that don't like seeing AR type rifles. When I see someone with an AR type, I just assume they don't shoot well and usually that's right. Unfortunately all hunter's are associated with the worst of the bunch.

None of this is to say that there aren't those that have accurate AR type rifle's or that can shoot them. At the end of the day, it is an auto loading rifle, nothing more. Sadly to many people that use them have given them a bad reputation.

All those steel Wolf cases I find laying around in huge quanities were likely fired in AR type rifle's. Most of the people I've run into shooting those rifles were using Wolf steel case ammo, it's really cheap. I guess they are left there for our viewing enjoyment? Slobs are just slob's but the evidence they leave behind reflect's on us all.

He wrote it, he ment it, he can live with it. His apoliogy means crap. I recall a little fat dixie chick taking a dump down her leg and costing her millions. He has already lost sponcers and will probably have his career circle the drain. People don't like to be called terroists, I was offended and insulted by his comments (but still belive he has the right to say it). He or his sponcers will never get another nickle from me.

Everything aside.......Jim did not take one thing into account prior to putting fingers to keyboard................the power of the internet and instant communication.

I am sure this is because of his age. I find myself underestimating just how powerful the web is (I am nearing 50). Jim grew up and started his writing career when people still wrote letters to the editor......you know real ones with pen to paper, or at best a typed letter. Most of us really had to be pissed off to actually go through that process, and in most instances we would rant about it a bit but just never quite get around to going through the motions of locating an address, writing the letter and mailing it.

A few years back, because of this, you could say something dumb in print and, while you would get some flack, the writer could usually ride out even the most spectacular blunders. Not so today......................thousands of e-mails will be generated in a short period of time and, as in this instance, the damage caused by the public outcry is done before you can even begin to try and do damage control.

Something we should all reflect upon.

Has anybody wondered just how many of the sponser's of Zumbo that dumped him did so for financial reason's rather than a difference in belief?

Cabela's, Remington and Outdoor Life die without hunter's. So we might really might not know what they think nor do many care as long as they do what we think they should. They may have had to get rid of Zumbo but they will survive.
I'm quite sure that in private conversation's between Zumbo and different people in these organization's he NEVER made reference to these feeling's. Yea, right!

Unfortunately, while he was talking about hunting, many people enjoy just shooting semiautos, and such talk of banning them for hunting is just one step away from banning them entirely, no matter what is said by government types. Once the nose of the camel is in the tent, it doesn't take long for the rest of it to get in. He has his choice to have his own opinions and even talk about them, but he cannot escape the responsibilty for them either. I imagine he has a somewhat over stated belief in his own importance due to his position.
