Anyone else hear about famed hunting writer Jim Zumbo talking trash about assault rifles. I just caught wind of it last month and only read more details about it tonight while browsing Gerber's website. Gerber has cut ties with any sponsorship for Jim Zumbo's hunting shows. I guess Gerber didn't like the idea of a famed hunter and writer bashing a portion of our 2nd amendment rights. I can't blame them.
While I see little reason to hunt with an assault rifle and little reason for myself to invest in owning any, I just can't see banning them from ownership of law abiding citizens. The way I see it is that hunting and shooting is just like anything else - there are proper tools that need to be selected for the job at hand. I mean you wouldn't use a pair of vise clamps to tighten a nut & bolt if you can get a proper sized wrench or socket/ratchet to do it with. The same holds true with gun and ammunition selection when used for big game hunting, target shooting, varmit shooting, ranch/farm protection, home protection, competition shooting, etc. Just my opinion, but there are much better rifles out there for use in hunting other than an AKs or an ARs. But, if lawful folks want to own them for lawful use, then I say - why not? No reason to prevent it. It's a 2nd Amendment right!!
Not trying to sell a membership to anyone. However, as hunters, gun owners, and shooters it is only in our best interest to join the National Rifle Association. They are the largest and most powerful organization working to protect our 2nd Amendment Rights and to insure that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
