It's A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood!

With all the hype about the poor numbers and bad conditions, I was not expecting too much at all.

That is what I get for expecting anything eh!?!?!

What a glorious weather morning to start the season with!

And I sure picked the perfect field to start with as well! Even though the three pivots I started with had nearly 40 hunters, endless trucks, and shooting just like on a range, before I had left the one half, of one pivot I hunted….I still managed to get two in the vest, and could not find the third I dropped!!

Kiwi could not have been more happy to be out chasing these ditch chickens! What a good dog she was!

…and her son Tako was just as excited as she was and worked like a veteran at his ripe age of 19 months!

So I ended up missing on three roosters!!...saw 4 hens, saw two roosters I could not shoot at, and the one I hit but never found, along with the two in the bag…I have to say, what a great way to start the day!! 8 roosters and 4 hens out of only two pivot corners! …so with that being said on how great a choice my first field was…I then headed to a nice big CRP I always tend to have decent luck at and normally do not see a hunter on as it is out of the way a spell. I hit it for the next 1.5 hours and the birds never even got birdy once!! Same with the next field too, not a single fast tail wag between them! The last field I hit to end my day, we did see one hen, and they got birdy once in a nice huge plum thicket. After near two hours of that field we called it quits for the day being very content with what we already had in the bag!!!

Did I mention how much I love my dogs?!?! Kiwidimok of The Wind, and her son Takoda of The Wind!

I'm guseeing it was some kind

I'm guessing it was some kind of preserve? I lived in Greely a number of years, until 1983. There was preserve hunting around back then. Where were you at?

See you got the photo thing figured out. I posted some from photobucket when the first started this new one. Had a terrible time with it!

Wild Birds!

Hey Don!! Wild birds actually, on public property too! Was not expecting it at all, but those pups needed it bad! Proved to be bad on the last three fields I hit, not a darn thing, I just started with the jackpot. The picture thing is driving me crazy! Are they showing up for you in the post? Or as the attachment? They do not show for me, just the links, thus the reason why I attach the files after the fact. I will be hitting the preserves several times this year. It ensures that I get the pups on birds, and only slightly more $$ as I do not have to drive near as far. There are several around, but Steve at Auer Bird Valley in Keenseburg has really been taking care of me the last few years so he gets the majority of my business. I have been to him many, many times and have never hunted the same field, and they have a great variety of cover. He has a giant pen, so the birds fly absolutely great! So if anyone local to northern Colorado is considering a preserve hunt, I cannot recommend Auer Bird Valley highly enough!

Looks like it was a fun time

Looks like it was a fun time had by all.

I'm going to try one of your pictures and see if it works.

It does so how are you trying to put it in the post?  I had a problem with not getting the full tool bar so that you could insert it using the tree icon in the toolbar but I switched to Fire Fox and I'll get the whole tool bar but I have other problems using Fire Fox.

Nice!

Yeah, I have google chrome on one, and IE on the other and I do not have the tree icon on either :(...I hate the little attached pictures!

Cowgal! Change it back! LOL!

I am sure it has to do with hosting the size of pictures!

I have been playing with

I have been playing with settings a little and have found that if I am using Firefox with my add blocker active that I get the tool bar above the reply to post along with all the fetures.  But with the add block I can not start a new post, it just times out.  Now if I disable the add block then I get a smaller reply to box with no tool bar and I can start a new post.

However if I try to use IE then all bets are off.  I am on a older computer and IE8 and it just refuses to open a reply to box with the tool bar.

I sent PM's and started a thread about this when I first noticed it happening but both the thread and PM's were ignored.
