Sounds like a lot of fun. Also much low on $$$$$.

"Out of Dollars Theory" is this: When one runs out of money, one finds out how rich he/she really is. Or innovative.

Well, it's over, here. Today was the last day. Pretty much frozen over. About an hour before the season ended I almost grabbed my SG and headed out - for the walk anyway at least. But some work bubbled to the surface - just as well - I need the $$.

It was a very different year. Climate change in reverse - a more normal winter with few fowl. My last shot fired was 2 weeks ago at a fleeing Canada Goose, which I missed (but seconds earlier I got some of his friends). The guy I took hunting (a friend with Idaho Fish and Game) and I had a great time. As it turns out - he was just appointed as the new Head of IFG for the whole state of Idaho. He's a good guy - I think he will lead Idaho well.

(If I look hypothermic in the pic - it's because I was.)

Well today turned out ok, my buddy got one woody drake almost at the end of the float. The ducks waited until we were within 150yds of the takeout to let us get close enough for a shot. So i didn't get a chnace but oh well i did feel better since i got outta bed.

Yeah if duck season was in the summer it sure would be nice, money seems to comes easier then with all the landscaping to be done. But beegars cant be choosers i guess.

It's a hard lesson to learn ... living one's dreams and passions not only requires one risking poverty, it seems to sometimes require being there. But if I really sit down and sort it out - I wouldn't have it any other way. There are a lot of people around with a lot more money than I have (right now), but having far less fun.

And hopefully the cash flow trough is only temporary - I'm actually making decent money again - once I start getting PAID for it - things won't hurt so bad. As soon as I can I will restock critical items (camos and ammo).

I am also getting closer to the bottom of my freezer. I feel a depredation hunt coming on.

Final note: the season ended yesterday with it getting dark and me not getting out. It continued snowing - but now I can enjoy the snow and not worry about it chasing the waterfowl away. This morning I slept in - I mean really slept in - it was a deep, protracted, soothing sleep, as long as I wanted, and more ... not the kind of sleep one gets in hunting season.

Until next year ...
