Is it myth or fact that you shoot higher from a treestand?

The question is basically listed in the subject. I have heard it both ways. It seems to me that the arrow should not hit any higher since gravity is acting on it the same way from a treestand as from the ground. So, in theory you should be able to hit the spot your aiming at from a tree even if you sighted it in on the ground, right?

Shooting at an angle, up or down with gun or bow ,point of impact will not be the same as shooting level.Impact will be higher, how much depends on how steep the angle and the distance. Practice!! is the best way to estimate. Good Luck!

that confirms what I've wondered about for years. I have always measured distance from a treestand to my deer by picking a spot on a tree that is eye level to me. Anything that is at the base of that tree you would judge the distance to it by judging the distance to a spot on that same tree that is eyelevel to you.
