Introduction

I have been lurking now for a couple of weeks, and thought it was time to sign up and join in the fun.  I live in downeast Maine and try to get deer hunting when my jobs let me.  I do get a chance to chase sea ducks, and I am set up to hunt coyotes, but when I have the time, the weather typically doesn't cooperate.

I hope to learn from the forum as well as be able to contribute some of my knowledge.  I look forward to chatting with everyone.

Welcome

Welcome to the fold! I've been a big fan of hunting in Maine for many years. Best I can recall, I've hunted at least six seasons for deer there, plus a couple of fall bears hunts too. I have always enjoyed visiting and hunting Maine.   Yes

Weird

That's strange I thought I replied to this thread but I don't see it...

Any-how - WELCOME!

I look forward to hearing more about Maine and look forward to hunting there again soon (God willing, I'll draw a moose tag!)

Mike

1986

I wish you all the best with the moose permit.  I have been trying since 1986 and have never been selected.  My wife on the other hand has been picked twice.  The first time, no moose.  The second time she received a cow permit.  Now I have to tell you, most people hunt these animals for their headgear and thats fine, but my wife and I hunt to fill the freezer.  My wife did kill a cow that was 2-1/2 yrs old and weighed 404 lbs.  All I will say is Mmm, Mmm, Mmm, fork tender and good biscuit and gravy material.

For those who are interested, moose permit applications are now available online at the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife website.  Good Luck to all that apply.  As I said earlier, I have never been selected but this will be the year because I am planning on traveling to Tennessee this fall to hunt with my brother.
