you want to know why they make the same mistakes?

remember the joke about the four surgeons talking:

surgeon 1 likes to operate on librarians because everything is in alphabetical order.
surgeon 2 likes to operate on electricians because everything is color coded.
surgeon 3 likes to operate on accountants because everything is in numerical order.
surgeon 4 likes to operate on politicians because it is so easy: no brains, no heart, no spine, no guts, no balls. Laugh

Sorry, sorta catching up on old stuff.
I'm curious,,,,,what "mess" are you refering to. Granted, he made mistakes, and there is some legislation got passed I'm not particularly happy with. We needed thougher more effective actions on illegal immegration, along with a few other things,,,,but.
Short into his term, his number one job became keeping this country and it's citizens safe. I feel He did very good at this.
Now if you are refering to this finacial and housing fiasco, His biggest mistake, was not pushing his warning hard enough, when the GOP had control of both Houses, in 2003.
But this whole enconomy colapse was set in motion by Clinton, in forcing "sub-prime" lending,

Any of the so called experts on the economy I've listened to from both the right and left have said the economy collapse can be attributed to many factors stemming all the way back to the Reagan and Bush 1 years, thru Clinton, and with Bush 2. Reasonable people tend to look at things realistically. Partisan ideologues who are short on facts but overloaded with emotionally fueled blame accuse one person or party. Borrowing trillions from China to fund the war doesn't help either.

Actually, we're not doing so bad compared to the "progressive" countries in Europe.
