If you could only choose one kind of dog what would you choose?
I would choose English Setter. What would you guys choose?
i have to say labs!!
i have to say labs!!
for my second choice I would either have to say labs or english springer spaniel
There are way too many variables in that question. Such as what kind of bird are you hunting? If it is ducks and geese with snow and ice on the ground and freezing water it would have to be a Lab or a Cheasapeake, if you are talking about upland birds such as grouse, quali, pheasants, and such then any of the retrievers will work quite well but I would prefur a Britney Spaniel but then a good Vizsla is hard to beat.

Picking what kind of bird to hunt with what type of dog is an interesting thing to ponder. Since I hunt everything from quail to geese and if I had to settle on one type of dog it would have to be a lab. They love to retrieve and can be taught to point and they love the water. Also I believe that the only reason that a lab was created was to make his owner happy. And they do that quite well.
I always thought the number one reason for Labs being created was to ensure their owners didn't have to worry about leftovers or scraps and to ensure their owners took proper care to put food in bear proof containers at all times. lol
it would be still a lab for all birds the current labs i have now do everything from retriving ducks and geese from the rivers and point and flush chucker and quail.
My choice would be a lab due to their desire to please, kind disposition, and versatility. I'm a shed antler hunter mainly but I do try to kill a pheasant each year, so a lab works well for what I want out of a dog.
