Idaho Unit 40 mule deer, help please

Hello all

My first post. To begin with I'm from Washington, been hunting here all my life, great hunting. Two years ago for some reason I got the bug to try for a white tail buck. That year my son and I went to NE Washington to try for one but had no luck. So last year we went to northern Idaho around thanksgiving for the first time to try our luck. Well luck was good to us, I got a beautiful 5x5 in the 140-150 class and my son got a small buck, he was 14 last year. Now hooked on Idaho and excited about going back for white tails I figured we would first try for a controlled hunt. So after a little research I decided on unit 40 knowing that the odds were slime to none. Guess what, yes 2 out of state tags for unit 40. This is probably the father-son hunt of a lifetime for us.

Now the bad news, I have no clue what unit 40 is like. So I am hoping that somebody can help us out here on how to hunt this unit.

Thanks, Steve

I have hunted 40 several times and spent many days in that unit. Do you have the late tag in Nov.? If so let me know and I will give you some drainages to look at. bowhunt247@hotmail.com I got a 180" buck there in 2001 with my bow.
