Idaho Unit 29 Moose Hunt with Father

I have been fortunate enough to draw a 2009 Idaho nonresident moose tag in unit 29 (also includes units 30, 30A, 37A, and 58). This tag is extra special as my father drew a 2009 Idaho resident moose tag in the same unit.

We are both new to moose hunting and any assistance you could provide would be extremely helpful. My father grew up in the area but hasn't hunted in these particular units for a number of years. I live in Washington and am doing my best to research the area in advance of my arrival. Some of the areas I could use some information/direction on are:

Any general suggestions on particular units/areas and the best timing for my hunt (September - November)? I am not asking for any "special" hunting areas but rather general help on more productive locations would be greatly appreciated.

Any help on how to judge spread on a Shiras moose? My goal is to shoot a good scoring bull moose (e.g. 40+ spread), if possible.

Any other help you think I should know/consider?

not an expert, only hunted moose once last year.

i will say that the rut right around the first of october and that is when i would focus my time.

this is just my opinion, but i would rather shoot a bull with really good fronts, lots of points and good palms over a wide bull lacking the above. just my preference tho.

i cant help you with where, i havent spent much time there. good luck, they are really fun to hunt. easy to call too, so dont be afraid to try.

i know its been a few years,

i know its been a few years, but i,m wondering how your moose hunt went with your father? because i drew the nonresident tag this year for that unit and haven't spent much time there. Scouting time will be limited for me as i'm a farmer and will be busy until about rut time... Did you find some quality bulls? and did you guys kill?  any info would be appriciated, Help!
