So who all is hunting the Panhandle and how are you doing? I have been running a Bait for a couple of weeks and still no action I am wondering if anyone is seeing any bear this year? Or if thye have moved up to higher ground.

I was in unit 4 for the past week chasing elk and saw one small bear, and a ton of sign. all the sign I saw was on closed roads(or just off of them) between five and six thousand feet. Good luck. Thumbs up

Shot my Bear openning day of Archery in unit 1 just west of Sandpoint by Baldy Mountain. First bear I ever shot , but I did recieve some great information from people. I also hunted over bait but did not have much coming in. Someone suggested calling with a distress call. Check in my files about bear hunting on here. 3 in the afternoon and only blew the call 5 - 6 times and the bear came running in. The bait is what actually held the bear and kept its interest. Love being out there, but what a rush when that bear came in and he was on the ground. Best of luck....Cary...from Careywood, Idaho!

I've been hunting a bit in Unit 3 and have seen some good bear sign but no bears as of yet. Good luck to you!

Where in Careywood

Hey Joe, My name is Cary....I also live in Careywood....one of the 451 in our "City". Live up off of Little Blacktail. Curious as to where you live. Somewhat new to the area....been here 3 years. Wife, 2 kids and a huge passion for hunting and the outdoors. Would like to swap hunting stories and your hunt locations! Shot my bear this year openning day, missed my 6x6 archery elk, but going after them openning rifle. Shot my 10 pt whitetail last year, looking forward to dropping another this year. Good luck hunting. You could drop an email anytime to BBDBABY123@yahoo.com

Hey North Idahoans,

Sounds fun, what kind of call did you use BTW?

Got back into hunting this year and am having a ball. Lots of lots of animals but nothing shot yet. Took a shot at a buck tonight but nicked a tree (archery) just outside of Sandpoint. This morning I could have shot a moose (or two) with a rifle up past Baldy. Gobs of moose around.

How is Unit 4 for elk in November for short range weapons (muzzleloader)?

I wish I was in the Panhandle right now. Took a trip up to Sandpoint a few months ago. That is about the nicest place on earth.
