Hi All - I have been fortunate enough to draw a 2009 nonresident moose tag in unit 29 (also includes 30, 30A, 37A, and 58). This tag is extra special as my father drew a 2009 resident moose tag in the same unit.
We are both new to moose hunting and any assistance you could provide would be extremely helpful. My father grew up in the area but hasn't hunted in these particular units for a number of years. Some of the areas I could use some information/direction on are:
Any help on how to judge spread on a Shiras moose? My goal is to shoot a good scoring bull moose (e.g. 40+ spread), if possible.
Any general suggestions on particular units/areas and timing of my hunt (September - November)?
Are you aware of anybody that has hunted these units for moose or other species that may be able to assist me as I am essentially doing as much research as possible for both of us from my Washington home?
Any other help you think I should know/consider?
Thanks and God bless!
