Idaho 26 Migration Rut Hunt

I have taken the plunge and will do the Unit 26 Late (Migration / Rut) Hunt. This is the Big Creek Drainage, Central Idaho. Any input on the late hunt? ... either specific or general. Season is Nov 1-18. Is there a best window in those dates and/or locations for the heavies to show? I am fairly familiar with the area (sheep hunting). I / we will likely fly in to Cabin Creek or other back country strip - and backpack from there. Gulp. Fun. I'm not getting any younger (age-wise) - so decided this is the year.

SH, that sounds like a exciting hunt. If you decide to do that hunt in the future let me know, as I'd be real interested, especially in a year or two. How much snow is usually in that area at that time of year? How many days do you plan on backpacking? Please keep us posted on how everthing works out for you.

That's sounds like a great hunt. I agree about trying to tag along in a future year. The backpacking part sounds great too. If only I could get enough time off from work eye roll to try that one myself.

SH im in the same boat with ya. Looking for a partner to back pack into the Shurman Creek Drainage here in Washington during the General rifle season has so far been a bust. You would think being only 18 I would have tons of friends dieing to do a 3 day backpack trip into the backcountry with would be easy to find...... sad Not at all....my own bother wont even go. Might be a solo trip....

Generally the right person will show up at the last minute, or before. But in case not - let's stay in touch. Or, even if so, let's stay in touch.
