There were 52,000 applicants for moose permits in Maine for 2013. 4,110 permits issued. Only 10% of them for non-residents. I was one of the 411 :)God is good.
That works out to be just under 8% of applicants got a moose tag. I'm sure that the odds for non-residents were far lower. I have been applying for 9 or 10 years and spent the $55 for 10 chances this year. I also said that I would accept any moose tag available anywhere in Maine, so that may have helped.
