American $$$ for American Ducks....

I got pieved at DU back in the early 90's Started supporting Delta and Waterfowl USA.  DU is for rich basterds with pockets full of money, who, truth be known, only hunt once or twice a year for the "sport" of it. They buy these wetland and get easments and build these excutive lodges all with the sweat and brokin backs of the workin man. And what does he get..... Maybe a lil' gold button to put on his cap to say thanks for the $200 sponsorship that he probably had to save up for a month to be able to buy. I don't know if I would go as far as to say that DU is in bed with the Enviro-Wacos but I would say that they be sittin' with them on the couch......Whistling

Yup that pretty much sums up my observation and opinion of DU, and this is after several years of being a member.

Despite everything I've said

In spite of everything I've criticized DU about I'm just not ready to totally write them off yet.  True I've been really peeved with them on and off lately, but there is a larger picture to see here.  It's true that they care mostly about land owners and restoring their habitat, but it really is a double edged sword that everyone gets their cut of the pie with.  The more I think about it, the restoration of waterfowl habitat, no matter where it's done, benefits all waterfowl hunters everywhere, even if you never get to hunt that particular private land.  Waterfowl are migratory birds and improving their numbers will improve hunting anywhere for everyone.  Right now DU is the largest and most prominent waterfowl conservation organization, who still is very hunting oriented. I'm not going to fret too much about DU sitting on the same couch with the enviro-whacos right now, but the minute I see DU head into the bedroom with those enviro's is the minute I'll totally cross DU off my list.
