I guess I'll be the 1st for Photos and story

Here is the buck I harvested. Interesting story.
I spotted a smaller group and started out after them. Then I spotted this larger group and changed plans. I figured I walked over 2 miles to get on this group. I also crawled about 75yds to get to a small clump of sage brush, my only cover. Rolled over, rested, got my pack off, bipod out etc. This put me a little over 300yds from them directly down wind and was it windy. I didn't see this buck at first only 2 smaller ones. Then I finally spotted the big one (well big to me). I was trying to figure out how I could get a shot off at him because he was bedded down facing me. As I was trying to get in a good shooting position, I guess a doe spotted me and got up and fixed her gaze directly on me which put them on high alert. He stood up and started to walk away, but slighly quartering. So I hurriedly got in a "good" shooting position and put the rifle on the bipod. As I touched off a round, sage brush expoded right in front of me. I had vaporized the top portion of some sage brush. So much for the "good" shooting position. They still didn't know exactly what was up and started to move out. I waited what seemed like for ever, until he turned broadside and I touched off another round. I connected just behind the shoulder midpoint between back and brisket. He staggered and went down. Less then a minute later I hear 2 shoots. My buddy tagged out on 2 does. After field dressing, marked the spot and walked back to the truck to get the "MULE". Check the GPS and it is 1.25 miles back to my "TROPHY". By the way it was sleet/snowing. So I figured I walked well over 4 miles to fill my tag.

He must have been fighting hard because his left cutter was broken off. I only have a small steel tape so the measurements aren't accurate. 13 1/4 on left side and 13 1/2 on the right.

Gun, 25.06 with handloads spitting out a 100gr Barnes TSX

It sure was an enjoyable experience. Sorry about the quality of the pictures, I think he was shivering on the first one.

Enjoy

I am leaving tomorrow.

Did you get your's on the 6th? That was the day that it started sleeting then snowed on us. By the way, how did you post your pics on here? I have tried a couple of times and can't seem to get them to work for some reason. Also, both cutters were broken on mine, as well as one of his tips.

Southernsportsman,

I shot him on the 7th.

As far as posting pictures, when you post click on the browse button below and then find the picture you want posted on your computer. Then either click on the preview or submit buttons. I think they have to be a certain size. I size mine 640x480 and haven't had any problems.

Hope this helps
