Hurricane Dennis

Well crap, I just went to my house in Ft Walton Beach yesterday to make the final repairs to fix the damage caused my Hurricane Ivan and now this Dennis character is threatening to blow in here even stronger. I hope that new $ 7000.00 roof holds up. Cry

Well this will probably be last time on till its all over, I have to get Panama City house ready for storm and then head to Ft Walton house tomorrow to get it ready and may just ride out storm there...we'll see.
Later.

Hope you weather out Dennis without too much damage. Guess we can hope that Dennis loses its steam or vears off elsewhere.

Hang in there!

I would have thought it would have weakened substantially after being over Cuba, but it looks like it held strong.

Best of luck to you JTapia.

I'm in St. Augustine right now and we're gonna pull out sun. morning on the first flight possible. It's not bad but we want to get out before the weather messes up the airports.

Well JT, How did it go? I was thinking about ya and made my way back to this forum just to see if you were fending the weather well. I'm sitting in Alaska at the moment well outta harms way. I woun't get to see how my Florida dig's weathered the storm until my return the middle of next month. I was well outta the path this time around and last years storms tore down most the trees that could cause me any trouble.. We'll be waiting to hear from ya.....

Sounds like tha area is the new hurricane alley, they say the new trend shows that there may be several every year due to the storms that bounce off the coast of africa and gain speed till they hit you.

We made it back !!!
Thanks to all who wished us well.
We came thru unscathed...pretty much.
We went to house in Ft. Walton Beach on saturday to secure everything after doing so here in Panama City, when we got there they said that the storm had weakened after Cuba and would come ashore around Gulf Port Miss. as a Cat 2 or weak Cat 3, so we decided to just stay at FWB house and continue work on Ivan repairs. Woke up at 4:30 AM and turned TV on and lo and behold we had a strong Cat 3 storm and expected to hit FWB as a Cat 4 in about 8 hours !!!
Thought about leaving and going back to PC but storm was directly below PC at that time and nobody knows for sure exactly where it'll end up at so we waited for next advisory at 10 AM.
10AM advisory said storm was now heading toward Pensacola/Mobile area ( about 40 miles west of FWB) so we decided to just stay and ride it out as FWB house is made of concrete block with new roof. Came thru fine, lost power sunday at 11:30 AM and as of noon today it was still off but we left and came back to PC to check on things here. All ok cept for a huge tree limb fell onto our back patio cover putting a pretty good dent in it. So all in all we made a clean escape again areas to the east of us, St. Marks is one, didn't fare as well though. I'll post pics of damage if I can figure it all out.

Jeffalaska, My goodness I was wondering where you went off to. Good to see you back on here. I dont have any news about your area but if I here any I'll pass things along.

Glad to hear all is well. Looks like its a good thing that pine on the other side of the fence back there didn't fall the other way and hit the boats...
I think I'd wait until the season was over to do much with that roof over the back patio. Ivan took out most the trees and limbs that could cause me harm last year. Trashed half my solar system so I took it down and put it away this year. I'm thinking all will be just fine when I get myself back down in the sunny south.
Good to hear from you JT.. Take Care..........
