In two weeks I'll be on a two day hunt for black Russian boar 100 miles north of Houston. I wanted to use the Sig Sauer 516 AR-15 as my sole rifle. But they don't allow .223/5.56 for the boars because of the poor recovery rate. The smallest they allow is .243. The bigger the better. Luckily I do have a brand new Remington .300 WinMag I bought a few months ago that has only shot paper. This will be it's first time out. But the cool part is that they have quite a few varmints on the 1,600 acre ranch like Coyote's and foxes. Also Bobcats. And some good size bobcats from the pics I've seen. So if I harvest a boar or two early then the second day I'll spend going after the varmints with the AR-15. If I'm successful I'll post the pics up here. It's been a long time. Looking forward to it.
