Hunting on Thanksgiving - Tradition or Not?

I will go to the in-laws which is okay since they are great people and there will be lots of food, but I wonder how many people hunt on Thanksgiving as a family tradition.  I don't know why, but there is something neat about hunting on this day.

You still found a way to get

You still found a way to get points out of a Thanksgiving! You're a sly cat! haha

I think that I hunted waterfowl one year in the morning before Thanksgiving but that is about it. We get the whole family together and it is a pretty big deal so it is hard to do a big hunt on Thanksgiving day. It would be a great day to get out there and enjoy the outdoors especially given the theme of the day.

I have family obligatons that

I have family obligatons that prevent me from hunting on Thanksgiving, but I recall hunting one Thanksgiving for whitetail.  I didn't get one, but I did see a big tom walking out in front of me.  I thought to myself then and still believe it, it doesn't get any better than that day.

When I am back in Vermont it

When I am back in Vermont it is, unless of course, we already filled our tag.  Such was the cae with my first deer back in 1992.  I shot it Thanksgiving morning.  Not a better time to be thankful, huh?

I have always gone hunting

I have always gone hunting Thanksgiving day.  It, more or less, was an unofficial tradition.  Now that I'm married....well let's just say that traditions change.   lol  This was our second Thanksgiving being married and we spent last year at my grandparents where I do a lot of hunting, but this year was spent with her family in the middle of the city.  So, next year it'll be back to tradition.   Dancing
