Greetings to all hunters worldwide. I am new to this forum and am sorry to see so few postings in the "Africa" forum. I am sure there are many hunters out there that can talk about their experiences in Africa and many that would like to hear all about it. My husband is very passionate about his hunting and would like to share this experience with hunters from other parts of the world. He is a registered Professional Hunter (Guide) and Outfitter. If you would like to hunt in Africa and feel you cannot afford it, maybe he can work something out for you.
Welcome Dewbridge.
I've never been to Africa but maybe someday.....
Sure like seeing pictures of the place though. There is such a variety of game there.
What kind of regulation are in South Africa?
Do you have to have tags (draw out) for hunting like is common in North America?
when is your hunting season and how far out do you are you booked ???????????
Great! Thanks to all for the interest and response.
Yes, South Africa is a place of many treasures - wildlife being one. There is a large variety of game, approx. 30 species in the Eastern Cape alone. Pics of some can be seen on our site. (see my profile).
Our open hunting season is generally May to July, but permits are available at any time of the year and many ranches have certificates which permit them to allow hunting for certain species at any time.
We do not have a tag system. Private ranchers designate species available according to their own management program.
Openings? We can always make a plan - next year is still available.
I've always wanted to visit Africa and hunt lol as it is now it would take a miracle of God to get me there... unless I become a missionary or something. That or I marry a millionair!!
Hi everybody,
I am a new entrant to this forum and this is my first post.I am particularly interested in Africa having been there twice, once as an observer and once as a hunter.I've had such a terrific experience that i would like to go there again and maybe do one or two of the big five.
Its nice to see that you are prepared to pay the stupid $ prices that South African farmers are asking. As a South African I see what they ask and I laugh.
Well Macnab....You willing to take one of us for less????
Any sugestions on how we can do it for less????
The biggest part of the trip as far as I can see is.....getting there!
As far as prices go, from what I've seen you can hunt most anywhere (thats safe for an American white boy) for multiple species in Africa for less money than a guided western hunt for elk!
We just signed on an African outfitter who offers hunts for the Big 5 and all the plains animals in South Africa.
Like I said I know what I pay and its a fraction what you pay. We have a local hunting magazine in SA called Magnum. They had an article from an American who had just returned from a hunting trip in SA saying that South Africans see all Americans as an endless money pit and I agree. OK lets put it to the test. Plan a make believe hunt and list the costs from plane ticket and lets say 5 species of plains game and 1 cape buffalo, you can get your game pricing from any web site post your price list on the forum and I will respond.
