Namibia has reopened controlled hunting in Bwabwata National Park which stretches across the Caprivi Strip from the Okavango River on the western end to the Kwando River on the east. It is now divided into two hunting concessions, Bwabwata West and Bwabwata East. This is some of Peter Capstick’s old stomping grounds. Maybe I’ll be able to get there someday.

Oh yes, Africa calls to me to return too.
Long before I actually planned to go to Africa, I dreamed of a home with tokens of travels to exotic places to remember adventures from my youth. What speaks of Africa like the graceful impala? Their lyre shaped horns and lithe beauty thrill anyone who sees them. So what reading room, with flickering fire, would be complete without an impala shoulder mount to stir memories of golden days afield in distant lands? Or a big Cape buffalo head with its massive boss looming from a dark corner? The skin of some great cat whether from massive lion or dappled leopard as mute testimony to taunting death and injury in sun burnt golden heat, or lush green vision limiting growth? Oh yes, Africa calls to me to return. I'd blame Capstick, or Burroughs, but the longing predates my ability to read so perhaps it is more than that in some of us.
