hunting on mom's day

this is the second mother's day in a row i've hunted. my wife's first and second.

it was only today that i started to understand that this woman really understands me.

anybody else figure this out? maybe the hard way? or just plain have trouble with that kind of thing?

I have never had any trouble

I have never had any trouble with my hunting or fishing with my wife as she has always fully supported my trips and adventures. Of course this is not my first time around and I chose much better this time. My first wife hunted also but did not doit for the right reasons and severely limited what I was able to do. This is not the only reason it came to an end but it was a factor.

That said due to her understanding and tolerance of what I do I want to make sure it stays that way and try to plan accordingly. I had accidently booked a fishing trip for this weekend in Oregon but caught it in time and rescheduled it for two weeks from now. I could have gotten away with it but it was easy enough to change and made her even happier when I told her what I had done.

sweet !

That sounds like a winning combination that you have theer my friend!

My birthday is in May and when my wife asked what I wanted I said that I wanted her to come turkey hunting with me.  She has never hunted.  She is from a hunting family and has never tried to restrict my hunting in any way, but it would be cool if I could get her to enjoy it too.

Hopefully, watching the sun rise some spring morning soon and hearing the birds gobble will do that

Wish me luck!

That is one thing I have

That is one thing I have always been blessed with. My wife has never stopped me from hunting or fishing at anytime. I once went snow goose hunting for the weekend and it just happen to be her birthday that weekend. She understands my passion. I will say I have passed on a few trips just to be able to do family stuff but it has always been my decision. I feel those times will make up for the important dates I might miss at a later time. The other thing that has helped is she has started to hunt more so she is starting to get the bug more. She will even go out goose hunting with my buddies if I have to work.

for a period of time in my

for a period of time in my life, several years, i lived in the wilderness and worked in a work camp full of some rough characters, moving down to the lower 48. when i first met my wife, i was more rough around the edges than smooth, you might say. but for some reason, we've managed to stay close. even though i can be insensitive and she can be... a woman. for some reason we havn't strangled eachother yet.

i guess i should just say thnk you.

sounds like some of you other guys have been fortunate with good relationships as well. which is nice to hear. i meet so many guys around here that have a family and lie like a dog when it comes to having to do ANYTHING for the family and kids. it's a little refreshing to see some people with a little better sense.

lots of the guys i grew up with are a little different. their "wife" is really just an indentured servant who cooks, cleans and raises children and is given no consideration when it comes to family matters. i don't know how people can live like that. lots of the women are chronically depressed, it's prettt sad.
