Hunting Licenses Costs Are...

Colorado's Department of Wildlife has really jacked up the costs to hunt elk and deer in their state. Even as the elk population is "over target".

These costs make it hard for an out of stater to come and enjoy a colorado big game hunt....

I'd like to see pricing of all licenses (in all states) done more fairly so anyone wishing to hunt can compete for the more exclusive licenses. Right now some states sell their hard to attain species licenses to the highest bidders. That's wrong, everyone should have a fair chance via lottery/drawing.

And I agree, states like Colorado with an abundance of elk, should be pricing them more fairly for out of state hunters, particularly in a year when they're trying to reduce the herd numbers. Its crazy to raise prices when you already have an over-population problem.

I'm with you on that. I have been applying for Oregon for the last two years. $67.00 per year untill you build up enough points to draw a tag. You are not refunded this money. You just receive 1 point each year. They say it takes about three years to pull a tag, sometimes four. When you do finally pull the tag it's $306 for the tag (elk) plus your lic. and apl. for that year.
I do not mind waiting but they could at least refund part of your monies. The $67 includes an aplication fee and hunting lic. fee. I have had A hunting lic. to hunt Oregon for the last two years which I have never used!

In Colorado we do get refunded our fees if we do not draw out (minus a small app fee), so we're able to accumulate preference points without it costing a lot over the years.

I do believe licensing fees (primarily for out of state) have gotten out of control in many states, as well as the regulations & requirements to even hunt there.

Not sure what the solution is. Since every state seems to have their own rules/regs.

Sounds like a lot of states are doing this.
Here in Maine next year they are going up on all of the permits applications and the licenses.
Not good.

I totally agree with you the cost to go hunting out of state has sky rocketed .You basically got to start saving as soon as your hunt season is over with.

i think it's all bull shit i don't see how the government can charge people to kill animals that they have nothing to do with, they didn't raise them or manufacture them or anything, people have the right to kill animals for free like we were ment to do, i do agree there should some regulation so we don't wipe out any species, i just don't like the fact that if i don't pay them money for something that doesn't belong to them they can charge me more money and/or throw my ass in jail for trying to kill my dinner

i'm actually pretty poor so i can't afford to apply and pay them all this money every year when i need food for the winter, so just go out there and get it and don't get caught, i hate feeling like a criminal doing something that is my god given right to do!

Ok DeadAim u say (since javelina season isn't until jan in az, an i'd rather not deal with the game wardens down there i'm goin go just a little south of the border where game wardens don't exist) and now u say this. The cost of permits is for the preservation of all game animals. If there was no charge for hunting game animals how would we bring back the Elk and all the other game animals. Yes the government has alot to do with the game you hunt because if it wasnt for them it would not be there for anyone.

Second could u watch what u say. I have seen that u like the S word alot
