Hi all. 1st time visitor here. I have been hunting unit 42 for several years, but have been thinking about looking around unit 25/26. Anyone know much about that herd. Any help/advice would be great. Hunting public ground.
Presumably you mean CO units. 25 and 26 have elk. The sweetwater area bounded by deep lake to the west Trappers Lake to the north and Sugarload Mountain on the east is a fairly popular destination for some hunters. Its also another part of the WRNF, as you are probably famaliar with having hunted 42.
I would hit it archery and first-third season, although it might be too high come the late season. 25/26 also have some special elk tags, although the details slip my mind at the moment.
Rather than spend my hard earned pennies on those cool Shoot-N-See targets or even the preprinted targets at sporting goods stores, I save a few bucks for weekend plinking sessions by using paper plates as targets. A 100 count pack of paper plates costs less than a 10 count pack of preprinted targets.
If you are playing with something like a semi auto AK, or building a young shooters confidence with a 22 or shotgun, those big eight inch blanks are perfect for putting holes in all...
