Not by a long shot.  If you

Not by a long shot.  If you think that you are good with a rifle with what little practice that you do with it try to shoot a hand gun at 50 yards and see how you do.  A rifle will have 3 to 4 times the power that a hand gun has and you can make a mistake with a rifle and sill take home some meat.  Do that with a hand gun and the animal is gone.  When hunting with a hand gun you need to restrict your range to about the same as a bow hunter does and it takes just as much or more practice to get good at it.  Even with the new single shots packing a scope you will need a rest to be able to steady the sight picture and the same for revolvers packing a scope or even open sights.  If you want to try and you don't have a hand gun to practice with get yourself a 5 pound weight and hold it at a arms length from you body and see if you can hold it without moving for a minute or so.

With enough practice you can

With enough practice you can become deadly with just about anything. People kill hogs with knives and spears all the time.

I don't think anyone is

I don't think anyone is doubting if a handgun can be as effective as a rifle.  He asked if hunting with a handgun is the same as a rifle.  75 yard kill shot versus 400 yards, plus a bunch of other factors, shows that it's not.

I have taken deer out to 200

I have taken deer out to 200 yards and an elk at 150 yards with my Thompson Center 7-30 Waters.  Both shots were from a prone posistion with a dead rest and the elk took a follow up shot.  It wasn't needed but he got it anyway.  That kind of shooting with a handgun takes a lot of practice.  I have some friends that think that all it is is the rest and the T/C with a rifle round in it until they try to do it themselfs.  As far as using a revolver for that kind of shot, you can do it but the energy levels as so far down that it is impractacle.  The furthurst that I have taken a deer with a  revlover is just over 100 yards with a .44 mag with a one shot kill.

If you pay attention to how he takes his shots you will see that he has some kind of rest everytime that he pull the trigger.  He knows better than taking a off hand shot with no rest.

Seriously though, do you

Seriously though, do you really consider that a "pistol"?????  It's twice as long as any pistol I know, and shoots more like a rifle.  To me, a "Pistol" is something you can hold in one hand to shoot, and I have never seen him do that.  Some of those have 15 inch barrels.  Always using shooting sticks.

Don't get me wrong, I love those guns, and Larry is one of my favorite hunting guys on TV, but I don't really consider that "pistol hunting".....
