HI BITMASHER, YEA IM ON TO A BIG 6 MAYBE 7 HUN.LBS. BEAR I WAS TALKING TO THE GAME.COM. AND HE TOLD ME ITS A GOOD CHANCE FOR ME CUZ THE BIG BRUTE HAS LIVED IN THE STATE GAME LANDS WERE IM HUNTING FOR YEARS.13YRS. INFACT, HE TOLD ME HE IS NOT ALOUD TO GIVE ME ANY INFO ON THE BEAR BY LAW CUZ IT WOULD NOT BE FAIR TO OUTHER HUNTERS THAT ARE HUNTING BEARS TO.BUT SINCE IV FOUND HIM ON MY OWN AND TOLD THE GAME.COM WERE HE IS HE SAID HE COULD TELL ME A LITTLE BACK ROUND INFO ON THE BIG BOY. WHAT HE TOLD ME WAS SO COOL AND A LITTLE SCARY. HE SAYS THE BEAR WAS A TROUBLE MAKER AND THE GAME COM. TRAPED HIM 13YRS AGO AND HE WAS 375LBS THEN, NOW HE IS A BEAST, MOST LIKELEY TO BE A 6 MAYBE7 HUN.LBS BLACK BEAR. HE IS SO BIG I CANT WAIT TILL THE FIRST DAY. IF I GET HIM ILL BE PUTTING HIS PIC ON LINE FOR EVERYONE TO SEE HIM, IF I DONT ILL STILL BE TRYING TO AT LEAST GET A PIC OF HIM FOR PEOPLE TO SEE HOW BIG HE IS.

700 lb? Now that is a bruin!

Be careful though, get on the wrong side of one that big and it is going to leave a mark.

Re: Registering bear baits in NS. I suspect that it has more to do with sorting out legitmate bear hunters from people dumping trash in the woods. I'm not sure though...next year will be my first go at hunting in NS. I can't wait.

If you get a bear in NS do you have to eat it?

Off topic - but do any NS hunters know if it is legal to hunt partridge (ruffies) with a .22 here?

You can carry a .22 during the snowshoe hare season but not during the deer season. This basically means that you can legally use the 22 for partridge from the first day after deer season(first Sat. in Dec) to Dec. 15(the end of partridge season) so as you can see it is probably not that useful.
