Hunting around Mobile, AL -- Any Advice??

Just got transplanted from VA to Mobile, AL. I'm trying to figure out some plans for hunting this Fall, but so far the folks I've met have been pretty tight-lipped about it. Seems like there's a pretty competitive attitude about it around here. Anyhow, I can't afford the high fees of most hunt clubs, so if any of y'all can give me some suggestions for this area I would surely be grateful.

I'm not to familiar with that area of the state but try the WMA's. Barbour County WMA is a good one that isn't to bad a drive.

mobile area

I was stationed in Pascagoula and quickly learned that Alabama hunters dont like to share information or deer woods. Mississippi has many good public areas just to your west with good numbers of deer and hogs and limited competition, especially during bow season. Grab a bow and try Pascagoula river, Red Creek, Desoto NF, Pearl River( giant hogs), or some of the other areas to the north. I have killed several nice hogs and deer on public land. Avoid general gun/ dog seasons, they are busy.
