Hunting After an Ice Storm ?

I am looking for some advice. We were hit here with a pretty severe Ice storm which devastated some of our area including some of my hunting spots. With all the trees down in the area will this make the spots better because more food is with in reach or will the deer stay out because it has changed so drastically? I went out Saturday for Last day of shot gun, the spots I could get to had no sign.
Any advice is much appreciated.

you have to keep going. the deer didn't move away. they may be in fields but they will be back to the safe woods.

the deers need to eat find the food and you will find the deers i was upstate in channago county this weekend only got one night of hunting in due to some other bs that we had to leave for but we did find some good tracks and the deer tearing up the snow to get to the grass in the field i was hunting had two come right behind me and scare off must have seen me move or something but ya you hunt the food you find the deer specialy now if you can hunt the spot a couple of days from now get in there with a shovel and clear away the snow and ice opeaning up that food give it a day or two for them to find it and i bet you will find something in there when you go back

Up here in VT I've been seeing the deer go to apple trees that still have a few iced up apples on them. They are looking for the windfalls and have been hitting them just before dusk. We have a good blow going on right now so they should be there this afternoon. To bad the season here ended on Sunday. Good luck to you.

Post season rut hunting is a often over looked hot time to be hunting, the bucks are splitting off and really hitting feeding areas hard trying to put weight back on quickly. The big boys start to let their guard down as well becuase of fewer hunters.

Hunting After an Ice Storm ?

i live in upstate newyork and about 7er8 years ago we had a really bad ice storm, we where out of power for over 2 week's and alot of tree's in the woods went down i cant remember how it effected the hunting that year, but i know that now it's turned in to some great brushy areas where iv found alot of bedding sites, so it can be a good thing in the long run.
