Hunter bashing

Hello, I would like to introduce myself as this is my first post here. I'm Ken Blaze and live in western NY. I've been hunting white tails for about 33 years now. I hunt mainly for the purpose of providing for my family and friends. I'm not that interested in the trophy aspect of the sport.
I would like a little input on how some of you handle the hunter bashing that I seem to be running into of late.
For example: I had to leave the woods early this season because of a medical problem. At the emergency room the attending MD stated the my affliction was probably due to the fact that I was a HUNTER, (that was my punishment she said) I had a large kidney stone! She made it perfectly clear that she was fully against our sport. Then in another forum that I am a member of some moron starts on the televised hunting and the cruel treatment of game. I waited as long as I could stand it before I responded. Of coarse the expected response to my reply was extended to me.
Just curious as to how some of you handle those situations.
If you would like the link to the post I mentioned I will gladly reply.

Thanks for listening..........KEN

Ken Welcome to BGH Big smile You'll feel right at home here, No bashing here!
I feel for you, where I'm from you just don't hear any bashing, so I really don't have a good solutiion for you. The one thing I wouldn't do is react in a negative way. Be well informed of the hunting issues and be intelligent with your responses. That will help make our image look better and not like a bunch of bumbling idiots just out for a thrill kill. Sorry I couldn't help much but I'm sure you will get more advice soon. Hopefully I can learn from this also Thumbs up

Welcome aboard Ken. Hunter bashing is something I don't run into to often either. About all you can do is be polite and don't get in their face. I see far to many hunter's want to "straighten" the anti's out. We can't. All the radical hunters do is further convince the anti's that we are in fact the barbarians they think we are. I have far less parience with hunters bashing antis, the in your face type, than I do with anti's bashing hunters. Those types make us look just as bad and illiterate as the radical anti's make anti's look. I don't hestiate to talk with the anti's when I do run into them, I always allow them their opinion, I just don't push it or begrudge them their's. After all, we have ours don't we?

Welcome Ken and Rich,

I know what you mean. The non hunting crowd can be nieve and ignorant of our sport. Some of my neighbors feel it is cruel to shoot deer or kill an "innocent" animal. As they are arguing this they are chewing on a hamburger and wearing leather shoes and belt, and have leather interior in their vehicles. Where do they think those things come from? Brick Wall,) Shame on You!

Hi Guys and thanks for the welcome. I did reply to this person in the aforementioned forum much the same way you described. He is fully aware where animal products come from, his problem is that we should shop for meat and not put on the charade that we hunt for meat. His belief is that hunters are just a bunch of fat, beer guzzling criminals looking for something / anything to kill so that they may brag to their friends (which he has stated on more that one occasion). It makes my blood boil! Most of his coments are directed at me and my family because I spoke up against his oppinion. I chose not to reply to his asinine comments after my second post and am seriously thinking of dropping that forum from my list. Thanks for listening.

It's hard to have an intelligent discussion on any topic when one or all of the parties are ignorant to their own ideals. Don't let them put you on the defensive. Stick to your guns. lol

Welcome to BGH. Your views are welcome here.

Welcome to BGH Ken!

Where I live in Colorado, hunting is a way of life. So no problems with hunter bashing here. Now in the cities, you may see some, but on the overall I believe that Colorado recognizes that hunting is a very important part of our economy. I think you'll find that attitude throughout most of the western states.

In the case of the doctor, I think I would write the top hospital administrator and the board that oversees physician's and complain about her unprofessional behavior.

I would keep my letter polite and professional, but emphasize that everyone has a right to their beliefs, but expressing them while you were a patient and in a considerable amount of pain is not only unprofessional, but unethical.

Don't let this doctor get away with her behavior. Fight back, but do it in a professional manner.

I was transporting my deer this fall on the engine hood of my Toyota 4 runner and passed a vehicle coming the opposite direction . He looked at me and gave me the thumbs down . So I gave him the finger up . I don't really pay much attention to those people .I got my winter's meat so I really don't care what they think . What happens when the deer hunting has ended .? I'll answer that my self with one sure answer . The deer get thick and the coyotes get thick and after the deer are all eaten the coyote looks for anything with food value in it . Dogs cats or maybe even small children Those anties really don't have a clue what they are trying to do .
