Hunt 09

Didn't get into the elk although, I did talk to one last night finally before coming home after six hard days of hitting the mountains on foot. I passed on a buck opening day and let my dad take him. Missed a nice buck in thick aspens on Sunday and then shot right over the back of a huge three pointer Tuesday. I'm sighted three inches high at 100 and estimated this buck to be a lot further then he was and held high. He scampered off like he was amused by me. My uncle got his buck on Wed. morning his last hunt before he had to leave. Packed out two deer off the mountain in the end. I'll be heading out this evening and tomorrow for one last shot before I have to eat tag soup. Concentrating on deer now. Here's some pics.

Down time. A great trip no elk or bear but exciting as hell for deer. I always have to tip my hat to my uncle 58 and dad 67 who hit the high country hard on foot in country most people pass on unless their on horses or someones driving em in on private property. Public land hunting with a decent success rate due to putting in the work. Also, packing out their game on their backs in rugged country. Makes me proud I come from such stock.

Plainview, were hunting around Garder Co. off of Hwy 69.

This morning finally sealed the deal so I wouldn't be eating tag soup on all tags and got a nice little four point buck. Nothing this year on Elk and Bear but there's always next year! Thumbs up

At least a little meat in the freezer and now got antelope, predators, and rabbits, to look forward to. Got him on the Greenhorn this morning at 6:30 here he is.
