HSUS and Internet Hunting

This article was front page WSJ a few weeks ago. Had to wait awhile so the paid content becomes free...

An interesting read on how the HSUS political machine works.

HSUS and Internet Hunting

This is just a way for the HSUS to get their foot in the door. No one is hunting over the internet, but they want a law passed anyway. They are blowing it way out of proportion.

We also need to be careful and watch how these laws are written.

All the HSUS needs, are a few foolish politicians to finally start listening to their rhetoric and they too will be on the anti-hunting agenda.

I don't believe internet hunting is right, but we certainly don't need a law against it.

Quote:
Melanie George Marshall, a Delaware state representative who sponsored an Internet-hunting ban that passed in June, considers her legislation a matter of homeland security. "I don't want to give ideas to people," she says, "but these kinds of operations would have the potential to make terrorism easier."

And terrorist will abide by the no internet hunting law? Please, give me a break. This type of mentality drives me nuts.

I think the way to fight the HSUS is by weaking their pocketbooks. Pass legislation that will improve the quality of life for animals kept in shelters, raise the standards of care - who can argue against that. Of course, it would cost more to care for the animals and therefore less would go to trying to outlaw hunting.

Sorta, I suppose. Right now they thing they can do anything they want and we're always going to be on the defensive.

I wonder how they would respond if suddenly there was proposed legislation requiring dogs and cats to be kept for a minimum of 60 days before being euthanized to give them a better opportunity to be adopted>

Alright. I'm upset. I have never visited the HSUS site before. I just had to tonight. First, that internet hunting thing is nuts. Has anyone ever even heard of it before? I noticed it's been outlawed in my state this year, but I would thing that is an ethical thing. Second, I started reading the present campaigns. Did you read the one about kids??????????????? I was very offended in reading this. An obvious direct attack of ignorance and slander towards anyone who was brought up in a family whose traditions and heritage include hunting. If I placed up a web site and listed my opinion towards an individual or group, making it sound as if they are twisted and cruel, I garantee someone would be offended, and I garantee I would be forced to shut the site down and pay restitution. Yet this organization is out in the open with their slander, and nothing can be done??? Oh, and by the way... Did anyone see the fur donation deal for orphaned wild animals? It's actually not a bad idea, but aren't they promoting the use of fur? Inconsistant and twisted.

I'm with you jfrench. It really sticks in my craw.

The HSUS certainly kills more animals than I do in a year. However, they believe my right to hunt should be eliminated.

They would like nothing more than to infringe upon our rights as free American's.

HSUS and its political side kick, PETA, aren't really known for rational thought or fact based campaigning. PETA likes to use naked people to push veganism:
