I got a nice 4x4 (5x4 if you're generous) from 325 meters, after I ran for a mile or so to get behind a ridge for a shot. I was huffing, but with a quick breathing exercise and a pre-64 H&H model 70 Weatherby 300, one shot, one kill. My buddies pictured here got a big 4x4 and a respectable 3x3 all before 10 a.m. and from the same herd.

Nice Bucks Makes it seems easy when happens like that.

Was hunting Western Cascades from the Columbia to Hwy 12 in SW Washington.

Apparently WDFW sent out a memo to all the deer telling them to stay home that weekend.

Didn't see anybody with a deer either. On a positive note, I did find some blueberries that were still good, so it wasn't a total loss.

I've been working the Olympic peninsula. Rayonier opened up some gates on their private land out on the west end but no joy so far.

The only buck I have seen was a little spike standing in the ditch about a mile from my house as we were on our way to church sunday morning.
