Watch the video -- yesterday the White House Press Secretary denied that Obama bowed to Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah, and was simply bending over to shake hands. Funny...I've seen him shake hands with all kinds of people over the last couple years, and never saw this happen.
I've been around the world and seen a lot of things -- to include living in Japan where bowing is an art form. When you bend forward at the waist to an almost horizontal position, you're bowing -- especially if you're showing humility by looking at the ground in the process.
The idea of our President grovelling to the king of Saudi Arabia -- one of the world's more brutal regimes -- is offensive enough. But what offends me most is the fact that rather than admit that he was naiively trying to be polite instead of thinking what the gesture might mean, he thinks that he can just tell the country that it didn' t happen and people will believe it. If he expects us to believe a stretcher that obvious and outlandish, what else is he trying to put past us?
Don't pee down my back and tell me it's raining.
