A big THANKS to BigGameHunt.net!! Big smile
I sent a couple of PM to this guy, and as it turns out, we are shirt-tail relatives.
His uncle's wife, is my step-dad's sister.
Funny how you can find a person like this, on a site that reaches all corners of the globe.

THANKS AGAIN BigGameHunt.net

People sometimes have adds in the paper. A good one is Outdoor News out of minnesota. Otherwise go to bread stores, butcher shops, bakery's ect.

where do you guys get your bait where would i start asking

Welcome to BigGameHunt.net.
First off, I am new to the bear hunting game also, but you can learn quickly here!!!!!!
Bait can be found at your local locker plant, or any meat processing facility. I called around to find out who butchers bears, and then asked them for bait. Just ask whoever you talk to if they have any meat scraps they would be willing to let you have for bear bait. I have found that they know what you want, because lots of other folks are getting bait there also, and, well, they just know.
Also, go to the bakery, or bread store. Tell them that you want pig, or cattle food. (Which is old bread, muffins, rolls, donuts, and so on)They frown on bear baiting it seems, and pig, cattle feed is cheaper and alot more available.
Go to any cafe, or resturant, and ask them if you can have the old deep fryer grease. That seems to be plentiful, at least around here. Finally go to the local grocery store and ask for old produce, some say that is good bait, but I've had MANY local hunters tell me they will walk right past, or dig out the produce to get at the good stuff (bakery goodies, and/or dry dogfood, covered in deep fryer grease)
Hope this helps. keep reading here, you'll learn ALOT FAST from these old pros HEY THANKS GUYS
